The Valley Foothill Doula Collective was founded in February 1997.  Our collective is a non-profit professional association with 'active member' meetings, which provide leadership and vision to forward the development of the birthing community.

"The Newest Advancement in Childbirth is Thousands of Years Old"

Mission Statement

Valley Foothill Doula Collective is a group of women who joined together in the belief that the way to bring the human element back into the birth room was to have a doula present.  Though we vary in skills, personality, experience, and services that we offer, the one thing we have in common is the belief that women are powerful and can have the birth experience that they want.  As doulas, we give of ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually that mothers can realize their potential.  We view birth as a sacred event and each baby as a unique individual deserving our respect and love.  We do not take over your birth experience or judge you in the decisions that you make.  Nor are we there to do battle with the doctors and nurses, or to take the place of your partner.  For us, birth is special and to be included in this momentous event is an honor.

~Help us fulfill our mission~

To promote the wider use of Doulas

To stimulate the growth and development of birth support

To provide a forum for education and the free exchange of ideas

To set the highest standards of ethics, qualifications, and quality
