Background, Experience & Training

I am a certified Birth Doula through DONA International (DONA) and a certified Childbirth Educator through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA).  I am a wife to a loving husband and a mother to two beautiful children.

The birth of my first child was a traumatic event and abruptly ended in a cesarean section. This experience left me wondering what could have been done differently. When I became pregnant with our second child, we hired a doula in hopes of avoiding a second cesarean and to enhance our overall birth experience.

The birth of our second child was blissfully memorable and will forever be cherished in my heart. Not only was I able to avoid the unwanted cesarean, I was also able to have the birth that I had desired. While the situations surrounding each birth were very different, I truly believe that if a doula had been present during my first birth, that the memories created would have been very different.

I recently had the opportunity to be a surrogate mother for a couple struggling with their own infertility. In 2010 I gave birth to twins via VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). This experience was amazing and reinforced my belief of the necessity of birth doula support.

I believe that pregnancy and childbirth are a magical time and I am passionate about helping women and their partners have the best experience possible.
