Background, Experience & Training

I have attended over 600 births, as a Doula and was certified in 1996. I participated in the Doula research project at Kaiser South Sacramento for 18 months.

Special Note:

Hi, My name is Cyndi Whitwell, and I have been a Doula since 1986. I really started having a "feel" for this work while preparing for the births of my own three sons. With very long labors, I really appreciated the help of my husband, and my support person.  Using this as my starting point, I have spent years adding to my comfort measures and positions and knowledge of labor.

My goal in birth is to support the laboring woman first, and secondly to help dad feel he is as much a part of the birth as he desires to be. Information can add to the peace and comfort in the room.  I try to bring that feeling as well as laughter, tears, hugs - a reminder that this is a wonderful day.

Services:

See my website for more details.  I'm experienced in use of the birth ball, do photography during labor and delivery, and take notes for a birth record after the birth.
